The hotly-anticipated management simulator was released today (10.11.17) and the former England star didn't waste any time in playing the title.

In a tweet sent earlier this morning, he wrote: "As if I don't sleep enough anyway @milesSI . @FootballManager, some game btw #FM18 (sic)"

Some 'Football Manager' fans have been up nearly all night playing the new-look title until the early hours.

A tweet on the 'Football Manager' Twitter read: "All-nighter? #FM18 (sic)"

One response read: "Until 3am. Maybe 4. (sic)"

Another tweeter wrote: "All-Nighter indeed (sic)"

One fan has reserved his whole weekend to try out the new game.

They wrote: "All nighter and weekender (sic)"

'Football Manager' replied: "Commitment. #FM18 (sic)"

One of the changes to this year's game enables newgen players to come out as gay.

Game director Miles Jacobson has revealed Sports Interactive decided to include the option in the latest title partly because "there are gay footballers" and to try to show people that revealing they're homosexual "isn't a big deal".

He previously said: "Part of the reason we decided to do this is because there are gay footballers.

"We know from the amount of professionals that there has to be players who are gay but feel they don't want to come out.

"I find it weird that it's still a problem in football so we decided to try and show people that coming out isn't a big deal and can be a positive thing."

Real-life players who feature in the game will not come out as gay, but newgens - the fictional computer-created players who appear on the title when the real players retire - will be able to.
