Yesterday (July 22) saw the announcement from Blizzard Entertainment that a brand new expansion pack - The Grand Tournament - would be coming to their strategy card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Welcoming 132 unique cards to the table as well as a new keyword and way to play with 'Inspire', the series will now introduce some of the unique additions throughout the next month ahead of release, with fans being able to vote on which card they want to see next at thegrandtourney.com

The synopsis for the new expansion reads: "The Grand Tournament transports brave Hearthstone duelists to the frigid continent of Northrend, where the heroes of the Argent Crusade once held a tournament to coax out Azeroth's greatest fighters-and prepare them to battle the undead legions at the icy heart of the realm. The Lich King's evil has been vanquished, but that doesn't mean the jousting has to stop . . . the competitive atmosphere's just a lot more playful (and a bit warmer) than it used to be."

Arriving in August to PC, Windows, iOS and Android tablets and mobile phones, The Grand Tournament card packs will be winnable in Hearthstone's Arena mode and purchasable in-game with in-game gold or real money at the same prices as the other card packs.

Starting next week (July 27), gamers will be able to pre-order The Grand Tournament card packs in a special 50-pack bundle on any platform for a one-off price of £34.99 on PC, Mac and Android, £39.99 on iOS. Those who do so will also be granted a new card back.
