The 39-year-old 'Interstellar' star could soon be joining Jake Gyllenhaal in Ubisoft Motion Pictures' adaptation of its own hit video game which came out in March.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, twice Oscar nominated actress Chastain is currently in talks with filmmakers about taking on the main female role in the movie, which is based on the third-person shooter set in dystopian New York City in which the population has been wiped out and law and order have broken down following a lethal smallpox epidemic.

The player - an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division which is where the film gets its name 'The Division' - is searching for the origins of the outbreak.

Gyllenhaal has teamed up with Ubisoft's Gerard Guillemot to produce the film and it will be packaged before it's taken to the studios - a process which proved a success for the company which set up 'Assassin's Creed' starring Michael Fassbender at Fox and Regency.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures is also bringing it's stealth game series 'Splinter Cell' to the big screen with starring Tom Hardy as the male lead.

Originating as a video game, 'The Division' was playable on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was developed and published by Ubisoft along with Red Storm Entertainment.

Chastain will next be seen in Europacorp's gun rights drama 'Miss Sloane', due to be released on December 9. And she will star opposite Daniel Bruhl in World War II drama 'The Zookeeper's Wife'.

And to top off her hectic schedule, Chastain will play the lead in Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of Hollywood gambling drama 'Molly's Game' with Idris Elba.
