The 39-year-old actress is currently starring in historical drama 'Vikings', but it has now been revealed she will be lending her voice to the "intrepid" character Marie Fischer in the Zombies mode of the upcoming first person shooter game.

Katheryn will join an already star-studded cast including former 'Doctor Who' actor David Tennant, and 'Daredevil' star Elodie Yung.

Game publishers at Activision made the announcement via the Twitter account for the game on Monday (17.07.17), where they claimed more would be revealed at the project's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20.

Accompanied by an image of Katheryn, the tweet read: "3 days to go. Meet the next member of the #WWIIZombies cast: @KatherynWinnick starring as the intrepid Marie Fischer. #SDCC2017 (sic)"

Previously, it was revealed the Zombies mode in the upcoming game - which is due to be released in November - would offer fans an "entirely new story".

Speaking in a reveal livestream in April, developers at Sledgehammer said: "Zombies an entirely new story and a pretty horrifying experience. [It will tell] the story of the Third Reich's desperate attempt to create an army in the final stages of the war."

In the 'Call of Duty' franchise, the Zombies mode - which first originated in 2008's 'Call of Duty: World at War' - sees teams of up to four players battle endless waves of undead creatures, with each kill awarding players points which are used to purchase weapons.

Elsewhere in the same stream, Sledgehammer and Activision revealed the game will launch on November 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

'Call of Duty: WWII' will have it's own slot at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday (20.07.17), where more details about the game - including the Zombies mode - are expected to be released.
