The popular franchise created by CapCom will be turned into a film for Fox and Chernin Entertainment, and Variety has reported 35-year-old filmmaker Henry Joost and 35-year-old actor Ariel Schulman are in talks to direct and pen the script for the upcoming production.

It has also been reported Masi Oka - whose full name is Masayori - will join the creative team and will be on hand to produce the project.

'Mega Man' has stood the test of time as it has released over 50 new games, which are available to play on numerous gaming devices, since it first launched over 30 years ago in 1987.

The game explores the journey of a robot named Rock, who was created by Doctor Light, who re-modifies himself into a stronger character in the hope he can save mankind.

However, it is unknown whether the film version will follow the same storyline as the plot has yet to be unveiled.

And the casting for the production has also been kept under wraps.

But there is no doubt the forthcoming project will be a success, as Joost and Schulman have previously worked on hit productions that have continually been developed to produce a number of follow-ups, including 'Paranormal Activity' movies, as well as the 'Catfish' documentary, which is currently in its sixth season.

The news of a film adaptation of the game comes over six months after the 'Mega Man' series' latest release dropped in January this year.
