The 39-year-old actor is set to star in and produce forthcoming action film 'Assassin's Creed' - which is based on the Ubisoft stealth video game franchise of the same name - but he's never been a big fan of motion pictures based around the home entertainment format.

He is quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper as saying: "To be honest with you, I haven't seen any of them.

"I think I saw half of 'Tomb Raider'. I just knew that this world that I was introduced to through Ubisoft - I'm not a gamer - was a new world to me.

"I thought, 'Wow, this is really fascinating'. This concept of DNA memory, genetic memory, it seemed to be something like what people call a sixth sense or instinct. This knowledge and experience that we have passed down from our ancestors to us."

Fassbender fans won't be too surprised to hear he doesn't have a penchant for video game movies, as the Hollywood star recently revealed he is not a fan of such entertainment.

He said: "The last time I had a serious stint with video games was 2000. There was a period of time where I was working in this warehouse at night.

"I would come home in the morning and just sit down in front of this racing game - I can't even remember the name of it - and play it over and over."
