Microsoft Paint RIP

The technology giant has confirmed the graphics editing programme, which made its debut in Windows 1.0 in 1985, will be rubbed off our computers at some point with news of their next Windows 10 update, Autumn Creators Update.

Microsoft Paint appears as one of the applications on their 'Features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update' list, as does the once-popular Outlook Express, as well as Reader app and Reading list.

Despite its "deprecated" tag, it's not known if or when Microsoft will be removing the app from our screens completely.

While Paint has always had a fairly basic set of features it grew a legacy among many Windows users.

Paint became particularly useful on Windows 98 when users could save images in JPEG via the programme.

Another app hitting the cutting board is 3D Builder, which will be no longer installed by default following the update.

Microsoft said: "Consider using Print 3D and Paint 3D in its place. However, 3D Builder is still available for download from the Windows Store."

Paint 3D enables users to edit both 2D and 3D images.

An exact date for the Windows 10 update is yet to be revealed.
