2K Games has revealed the details of the exciting new mode, which is to be known as 'Road to Glory' and will see players from all over the world pitted against each other on a daily basis as they seek to obtain stars, with their overarching ambition being to gain entry into pay-per-view shows.

In order to make it to these headline-generating events, gaming enthusiasts must earn the required number of stars or "purchase [their] way" in, the WWE website explains.

Allied to the announcement of 'Road to Glory', 2K has also confirmed the development of the 'MyPLAYER' mode, which allows gamers to customise their own character and then use them in the 'Road to Glory' and 'MyCAREER' modes.

A blog post explained: "A 'MyPLAYER' is an upgradable character that gets stronger and more powerful along with the player's progression in both 'ROAD TO GLORY' and 'MyCAREER'.

"On the 'MyPLAYER' home screen, there are several customisation and upgrade options for your 'MyPLAYER' - in addition to being the portal to 'MyCAREER' and 'ROAD TO GLORY'."

'WWE 2K18' is set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 17, with a Nintendo Switch version being made available later in the year.
