The critically acclaimed platformer was released on PC consoles last year after spending a decade in development, and it has now been revealed the game - which was developed by independent company D-Pad Studio - is set to get a port on the new Nintendo console.

The news was announced on Nintendo's Japanese YouTube series 'The Cat Mario Show', although as of yet it is unknown when fans of the game can expect the port.

'Owlboy' follows the story of a boy named Otus, who has the gift of flight and must try to save his village from the evil forces and doom that looms above them.

The game features a number of interesting mechanics such as the need to ferry other non-flying characters through the air to reach certain stages, and was rated 88/100 by Metacritic upon its release.

As of yet, no other consoles have announced plans for an 'Owlboy' port, and so the game remains a PC/Mac and Switch exclusive.

Meanwhile, Nintendo also recently confirmed that 'Harvest Moon: Light of Hope' will also be getting a port for the Switch, after previously being confirmed for Playstation 4 consoles.

A press release for the game read: "As they drift into a small harbour town, now in a shambles from the storm, it will be up to the player to help rebuild the town and save the lighthouse ... but it won't be easy!

"Nevertheless, with some hard work growing crops, tending livestock, and gathering materials for repairs, players will be able to make new friends, start a family, revive the lighthouse, and save the town."
