The new release is merely the latest development from the Pokémon Company International, which has recently announced a multitude of new titles for smartphone users following the incredible success of 'Pokemon Go' in 2016.

'PokéLand' has already been likened to the 'Pokémon Rumble' games, which have been made available on the Wii, 3DS or Wii U consoles.

The latest release has been made available on the iOS and Android platforms, although it remains unclear whether the title will ever leave Japanese shores.

Meanwhile, in an interview conducted late last year, Junichi Masuda, Pokemon's series producer, revealed that developers were already exploring the possibility of creating remakes of older 'Pokemon' games.

Junichi hinted that titles like 2004's 'Pokemon FireRed LeafGreen' could be released, admitting that the company is "interested" in such a project.

He shared: "I think the remakes, like 'Pokemon FireRed' and 'LeafGreen', is still an approach we're interested in.

"With the Virtual Console releases of the original games, specifically there had never been a way to bring those Pokemon over to the latest generation. It had always been that you couldn't get those Pokemon out."
