The 'Pokemon' title has proven to be a worldwide success, far exceeding most developers' initial ambitions, and now Ninantic Labs are hoping to mirror the success of that title with a new game based on author J.K. Rowling's iconic character.

A statement explained: "With 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite', players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

"Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighbourhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies."

For the moment, details of the game are few and far between. But it has been widely speculated that the upcoming title will follow the same format as the 'Pokemon' game, which had been downloaded 752 million times as of June this year.

As well as the success of the Rowling-authored books, Harry Potter also starred in a film series, with actor Daniel Radcliffe playing the central role alongside Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Since then, the franchise has been turned into a stage show and has led to the launch of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', which has been described as an extension of the wizarding world.
