Jeremy Stieglitz has taken to his Twitter account to offer some updates about the game and revealed it is not looking likely that fans will be able to use cross-play, despite Studio Wildcard managing to do so "internally".

In response to a fan who asked if "there will ever be a way Xbox and PS4 can play together?", Jeremy responded: "We have it working internally, but currently Sony won't allow it :( (sic)"

Sony are thought to be concerned about user safety because they wouldn't be able to control things if PSN could connect to the Xbox Live network.

This comes just three weeks after it was revealed 'Ark: Survival Evolved' had been delayed.

The game was expected to drop on August 8 but was pushed back a further three weeks to August 29 as it took "longer than expected" for the title to receive its Gold Master certification.

In a forum post uploaded to the game's website, the developers said: "Let's address the mammoth in the room. Official Release. As of today, 'ARK' has completed its Gold Master and certification for retail release. This process took a little longer than expected and as a result, our release date has been pushed back to August the 29th. We're deeply apologetic for those who were negatively affected by the delay; it sucks, it wasn't what we had wanted, nor planned but where we currently stand. We wanted to address this sooner but did not want to make any statements until we were completely sure of what was going to happen. (sic)"

The game's newest map Ragnarok will also drop on August 29, and Wildcard insisted the extended time on the map's release will allow for "further development" of its features.
