Activision Publishing, Inc. have teamed with Nickelodeon to take SpongeBob fans under the sea in a brand new video game - SpongeBob HeroPants.

Arriving in March to Xbox 360 games and entertainment systems from Microsoft, as well as the Nintendo 3DS hand-held system, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV, the game is based on the hit-animated television series which SpongeBob fronts, alongside his friends from Bikini Bottom.

All's not well under the sea following the events of forthcoming animated/live-action feature film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water - out on March 27.

As our hero's dreams are coming to life, space and time is being altered beneath the waves, and SpongeBob must join forces with his friends to unlock hidden abilities and put back together the pieces of his shattered cartoon psyche.

Along the way the characters will come across alternate forms of the universe they live in, warped by SpongeBob's mind into prehistoric, war zone and candy-coated versions of their hometown.

An action game like no other, there's a focus on exploration, platforming and light puzzles and combat. Each of the six playable characters - SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Mr. Krabs and Plankton - have the ability to morph into unique super-powered champions, each with their own assets and abilities to solve challenges, unlock new areas and defeat the crazed imagination they're up against.

Huge boss battles, intense skills and hidden items are all included, and players on Xbox 360 can even get real-life local friends involved with four-person local drop-in/drop-out co-operative multiplayer.

Until its release, SpongeBob fans can 'stay square' and keep up to date at http://www.nick.com/SpongeBob/, www.facebook.com/SpongeBob and www.twitter.com/SpongeBob.
