The development company's president Yosuke Matsuda has insisted they will be putting some of their titles - which include the 'Final Fantasy', 'Dragon Quest', and 'Kingdom Hearts' franchises - out on the new hybrid console, and are keen to both revamp old games and create new ones for the system.

As part of the company's latest earnings report, Yosuke said: "We intend to be proactive in our development efforts given that it's a platform that is well suited to the mid-sized titles at which we excel.

"We base our development resource allocations on the unique attributes of each platform. In particular, Nintendo Switch makes it easier for us to leverage our back catalog of assets and expertise, so we want to be proactive in creating new IP and rebooting past titles for that platform."

Yosuke's comments come after it was previously claimed by 'Final Fantasy XV' director Hajime Tabata that the newest title in the popular franchise could be getting a Switch port, as developers are "investigating" the possibility.

He said: "We're actually doing very specific technical investigations into what's possible at the moment. We've completed those tests and have worked out where the ground lies. We're currently in the middle of the discussion and debate about what we should be doing, and how to realise that on the Switch."

However, Hajime would not confirm a Switch port at the time, because the developers haven't come to a "full decision".

He added: "[O]ne thing we value is to optimise the way the game plays and the experience for the individual hardware it's on rather than a one-size fits all approach. We can't currently announce anything - we haven't come to a full decision on the best way to do it yet. We're having very open, frank discussions with Nintendo at the moment about what they think is the best thing to do."
