Developers DICE are busy working on the sequel to the massive selling 2015 multiplayer title which allowed players to take control as their favourite heroes and villains from the original trilogy such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader and Boba Fett and later as Jyn Erso and Director Krennic from the 'Rogue One' spin-off, with both available as DLC characters.

Speaking during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Jorgensen promised that the new title will be much bigger and will have "a lot of new characters" from the newer 'Star Wars' movies, leading to fans speculating they will come from sequels 'The Force Awakens' and 'The Last Jedi', which hits cinemas this December.

Jorgensen said: "The 'Star Wars' universe is just unbelievable to build games in because it's so vast."

As well as the various multiplayer options, the sequel is to have a single player campaign which is being made by Motive Studios.

It is believed the first trailer for 'Star Wars Battlefront 2' will be seen at the 'Star Wars Celebration The Ultimate Fan Experience' next April.
