According to Deadline, Atari are working on a deal with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films to produce two movies based on the popular titles.

Spice Girl Mel B's husband Stephen Belafonte is set to executive produce on the two projects along with Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones and Atari, while Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce.

Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said: "[We are] thrilled to partner with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films to develop feature films based on two of our most beloved titles.

"'Centipede' and 'Missile Command' are part of Atari's unparalleled and rich library of popular games and we cannot wait to see the movies come to life."

Emmett described the games, which both launched in 1980, as "immensely popular titles".

He added: "We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing Centipede and Missile Command to the big screen."

On 'Centipede', players control a humanoid head which has to shoot down spiders, scorpions and fleas on a Space Invaders-sty before finishing off a centipede to complete a level.

While playing 'Missile Command' gamers have to move a crosshair around and launch missiles to defend six cities from being destroyed.
