After months of promotion, hype and speculation surrounding the Super Smash Bros. latest offering, the game has now landed on Nintendo 3DS ahead of its Wii U release.

Running at 60 frames per second all in stereoscopic 3D, the game brings some new elements and features never before seen to the forefront.

Pokémon fan favourite Greninja has joined the roster, whilst classic characters make a return alongside other new names, including the Animal Crossing villager.

A mode exclusive to the 3DS version of the game is 'Smash Run', where four players take five minutes in a dungeon to explore their surroundings, fighting enemies and gaining power-ups for their character.

When the five minutes come to an end, players enter a battle arena with what they've collection and find out just who will come out on top.

Also offered is online multiplayer mode so gamers on the same platform can battle it out against one another.

Two modes are available when finding people online - 'for fun' and 'for glory'. The former has all stages picked randomly and items and power-ups available, whilst the latter is a smoother, cleaner and more balanced battle.

With a lot more to explore than in any other Smash Bros. game before, this should be an experience gamers don't forget as it comes to the small 3D screen for the first time.

Super Smash Bros. is available now on Nintendo 3DS.
