The games publisher released the first-person survival horror title on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January and had plans to bring it to the console, which is both a portable and a home entertainment system.

At the recent Game Creators Conference held in Japan Nintendo's Masaru Mitsuyoshi and Capcom's Masaru Ijuin held a joint session to discuss the Switch admitting the main issue regarding the port was if the Switch memory space (RAM) was sufficient for the company's new RE Engine - which was specifically created for the game.

Now, NintendoEverything.com is reporting that Capcom is looking to get round the RE Engine issue by optimising it to operate in a lower power state.

The report reads: "Ijyuin said Capcom is looking into porting RE Engine to Switch by attempting to optimise it to operate in a low power state. In order to port it, it is necessary to make the engine capable of corresponding to two different performance modes: docked and portable. Therefore, it is not an easy task, but they would like to put in the effort to achieve it."

The next confirmed release related to 'Resident Evil 7' is the 'Not A Hero DLC' which is launching this spring for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The add-on - which is free to all owners of the title - will introduce one of the series' main protagonists Chris Redfield to the game, and although details of his inclusion are scarce Capcom has confirmed that the adventure will be a separate story to the main adventure.
