The critically acclaimed episodic graphic adventure game - which is based on the graphic novel series 'The Walking Dead' by Robert Kirkman - has announced it will make its fourth instalment, entitled 'Episode 4: Thicker Than Water' available to players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC/Steam, iOS, and Android-based devices next week.

Posting a picture of the artwork for the new episode on Twitter, game developers Telltale Games wrote: "#TheWalkingDead: A New Frontier Ep 4 'Thicker Than Water' will be available to download starting 4/25! Official trailer tomorrow!#HangTight (sic)"

The release of the fourth episode comes just a month after episode three, 'Above The Law', which was released to players on March 28.

'A New Frontier' marks the third season of 'Walking Dead' games to be made by Telltale Games, with the first two, named 'Season 1' and 'Season 2', being released in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The series - which will be comprised of five parts - launched in December last year to wide-spread acclaim with the two-part starter 'Ties That Bind'.

The new series follow the protagonist Javier Garcia, alongside his group consisting of Kate, the second wife of his brother David, and David's children Gabe and Mariana. The group later meets Clementine, a young teenager surviving on her own, who was the major protagonist in the previous two seasons of the gaming franchise.

'The Walking Dead: A New Frontier' acts as both a new beginning for players fresh to the series and unfamiliar with Clementine, as well as a continuation for players who have experienced Seasons One and Two. Players new to the series are able to start a story that is tailored to this new beginning, whilst players continuing onward from prior seasons have multiple options for quickly configuring their tailored backstory, or importing past save files from various platforms.
