2K Sports have confirmed the title is out Wednesday for those with the console - exact times vary depending on people's territory - making it the first WWE video game on a Nintendo platform for more five years.

'WWE 2K18' also becomes the first portable WWE video game in six years.

2K Sports said: "The Nintendo Switch edition is a robust offering featuring the new grapple carry system, new weight detection, thousands of new animations, a massive backstage area, and up to six characters onscreen at once.

"Play on TV or in handheld mode with up to four people in online and local multiplayer."

Switch users who purchase a copy of the game - which dropped on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in October - will be treated to the updated Creation Suite, Universe and MyCareer Modes as well as the new Road to Glory mode.

What's more, gamers will be able to make use of the expansive roster of playable characters, including legends such as Kurt Angle.

Others star available to play with are Kane, Big Show, Andre the Giant and The Undertaker.

The Road to Glory mode was announced in October and sees players from all over the world pitted against each other on a daily basis as they seek to obtain stars, with their overarching ambition being to gain entry into pay-per-view shows.

The WWE website stated: "Compete with opponents online to improve your MyPLAYER by earning unlockables, boosts, and upgrades, all while securing your entry into special events that are held alongside real-life WWE special events, such as pay-per-views."
