Having exchanged his villainous life of super crime to raise orphans Margo, Edith and Agnes, the ever-entrepreneurial Gru is beginning to adjust to his role as a father (an overprotective one at that!), and has even gone into the family-friendly business of jelly and jam making.
But just as Gru, his new family, and small army of mischievous minions become settled into their new way of life, there’s a disruptive knock at the door from the ultra-secret Anti-Villain League agent, Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig; Bridesmaids, Paul).
Lucy has been sent on a mission to track down the world’s next threat of evil, and who better to help her find the hiding hazard than the world’s greatest ex-villain? As Gru and his trusty companions are kidnapped by the determined agent, it quickly becomes clear that their quiet and calm life is soon to be turned upside down.
After initial determination to stick to his new-found straight-laced ways, Gru, his daughters and minion companions are persuaded to help the AVL fight the force of evil, and are whisked off into a chaotic world of undercover investigations and dastardly deeds. What ensues is a hilarious mix of misbehaving minions and wicked antics set to send family winter evenings alight!
Starring brand new cast member Benjamin Bratt (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) as evil Eduardo, plus British favourites Steve Coogan (Ruby Sparks) as head of the Anti-Villain League, Silas Ramsbottom and Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek, Hop) in a reprising role as Gru’s no-so-trusty sidekick Dr. Nefario, Despicable Me 2 is a family film to entertain all.
