The 7.39 DVD

From the writer and director of critically acclaimed, One Day, David Nicholls brings his latest work to TV screens in the BBC two-part romantic drama, The 7.39, released on DVD on 10th February from Universal Pictures (UK).

Featuring a top cast of true British talent, including David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), BAFTA Award Winners, Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) and Sheridan Smith (Mrs Biggs), and heartthrob Sean Maguire (Scott & Bailey), The 7.39 tells the story of how even the most predictable of lives can, in one fleeting moment, dramatically change course forever.

Carl Matthews (Morrissey) is a 45-year-old guy whose life has fallen into a dull routine. Happily married to his best friend from college, Maggie (Colman) and father to two sullen teenagers, Carl’s life is as predictable as they come; even down to him catching the same 7.39am train every day, with the same unhappy faces doing the same daily commute, en route to Waterloo.

Enter, Sally Thorn (Smith). Sally has recently moved out of London with her personal trainer boyfriend, Ryan (Maguire).

Unsure if she likes the new suburban life, or the prospect of marriage to Ryan who is desperate to settle down and start a family, Sally secretly spends her time wondering if this is really the life for her and, more importantly, if Ryan is the man she wants to spend it with.

However, she’s not much time to worry about these things, not while she’s running to catch the 7.39 back to her day job in London.

One morning, over a fight for a seat, Sally and Carl begin talking and suddenly their daily train journeys become a lot more interesting, potentially changing the course of both of their lives forever.

Don’t miss this serendipitous romantic tale, The 7.39 available on DVD from 10th February from Universal Pictures (UK).
