1. In the last ten years, the percentage of obese adults in the United Kingdom has increased by more than 50% - from 14% of the population to 22%.

2. A staggering 2.7 million people are estimated to be living with coronary heart disease in the UK - a number that is rising year on year. One person dies from it every three minutes.

3. More than one in three of us will develop cancer at some time in our lives. Experts believe that around 35% of all cancer cases are linked to diet.

4. In 2003, it was estimated that 194 million people globally were diabetic, representing over 3% (5.1% for those aged 20 to 79) of the world's population. This trend is increasing and the number is expected to reach 333 million (6.3%) by the year 2025. There are 1.4 million diabetics in the UK.

7. Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common chronic neurobehavioral problems encountered in paediatric practices today. It affects approximately 3% to 5% of the school-aged population.

8. 3.5 million people in the UK suffer from Asthma and the incidence is rising, with more than half a million people suffering a mild to severe asthma attack almost every day

9. One in three adult women in Britain can expect to have an Osteoporosis-related fracture during their life. The World Health Organisation has declared that Osteoporosis is so widespread that it is at epidemic levels.

10. Coeliac Disease, a life-long inflammatory condition of the gut, used to be rare but more and more doctors are beginning to recognize the disorder in their patients. The average incidence in the United Kingdom is 1 in 100 people.

It has been proven that all of these diseases/conditions can be alleviated or avoided by changes to diet and lifestyle.
