As part of their Spread the Warmth campaign, Age UK are celebrating Bobble Day 2012 by encouraging people to wear a woolly item to work or school and donate £2 to the charity, to help vunerable people this winter.
Bobble Day is on the 10th February and all money raised by woolly wearers will go towards the huge Spread the Warmth campaign, which helps to keep older people all over the country warm during these freezing winter months.
The charity are asking people to resurrect their winter woollies and wear them to help raise funds in aid of the 360,000 eldery people who need support and warmth over the festive season.
A survey by Age UK showed that 47% of people in the UK received a festive woolly item for Christmas and have only worn it once or twice. What better way to make good use of your comfy knit and wear it to support a good cause.
Through the Spread the Warmth campaign, the charity aims to reduce the number of deaths caused by the effects of cold weather. An extra 25,000 old people die every winter, a figure which could be prevented.
