Make sure your fridge is filled with fresh produce

With strong the new skinny, more people are now choosing to lead and maintain a clean, healthy lifestyle. By banishing processed foods and focusing on eating things that genuinely benefit the body, more people than ever are eating clean and living well.

Eating clean has now become easier for the people of Manchester, as healthy express food bar Wahu has opened its doors on The Avenue in Spinningfields.

Here, founder, Jamie Barr, shares his top tips on eating clean:

  1. 1.    Be Prepared

“Temptation is everywhere and when hunger strikes it’s easy just to grab something quick to curb the pangs, but this can often lead to bad decisions. Whether it’s pre-ordering lunch in the morning, or picking up a bag of nuts as an afternoon treat, knowing what you’re eating that day means you’re less likely to stray.”

  1. 2.    Be Adventurous

“Eating the same food every day can be boring, no matter how clean and healthy it is. Keeping things varied and interesting will mean you’re less likely to break your clean eating regime. Why not add interesting ingredients, such as quinoa, to your salads? As well as being high in fibre and vitamin B, it tastes great and will add an extra element to your meal.”

  1. 3.    Treat Yourself

“Being healthy and eating clean doesn’t mean you have to say no to meals out with friends or miss out on lunchtime trips from the office. Just be aware of your options and decide beforehand what you want to eat, so you can’t be tempted by other dishes on the menu. Having the odd clean treat will keep you motivated as you won’t feel like you’re following just another boring diet.”

  1. 4.    Be Knowledgeable

“Understanding what you’re eating and the effects it has on your body means you’re less likely to be tempted by unhealthy, processed food. That’s why we share the health benefits of our ingredients with all our social media followers. Knowledge really is power when it comes to sticking to a clean eating programme.”

  1. 5.    Find Alternatives

“Clean eating doesn’t mean missing out, it means being smarter with what you do want to eat. If you love crisps as an indulgent snack, try nuts instead, you’ll still get that satisfying crunch, without all the processed nasties. There are so many clean menu options at Wahu, you’ll never feel bored of your food or like you’re missing out.”
