Hot Bikram Yoga

Hot Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga is the nation’s fastest growing form of Yoga and it involves a 90 minute session which takes place in a room heated to 40 degrees Celsius with 40 per cent humidity. This can help steam off those stubborn excess pounds, flush out toxins and burn up to 600 calories at one time.

Hot Bikram Yoga classes are perfect for beginners as they follow a specific series of 26 postures and include two breathing exercises. The heated room helps to ease muscles, prevents injuries when stretching and avoids any aches and pains the following day.  More experienced yogis can enjoy the challenging cardio vascular workout it provides as the exercises coupled with the heat are guaranteed to raise the heart rate.

Fans of this type of Yoga, which include Daniel Craig, Lady Gaga and Andy Murray, believe it offers a wide range of health benefits and regular practice can build general fitness levels, increase flexibility and improve strength and muscle tone.

Bikram Yoga can also help focus the mind and restore an inner calmness after what can often be a hectic end to the year after all that socialising.  It can help encourage better sleeping patterns, banish bouts of anxiety and reduce stress levels.

Olga Allon, founder of the Hot Bikram Yoga studios, comments: “Bikram Yoga is a fantastic way to kick-start your New Year fitness regime and it’ll leave you feeling energised and refreshed.  Regular practice will tackle those common complaints we all feel after the festive season and it can help balance every system in the body.  As well benefiting from that all-important detox, you can improve your digestive system, increase your metabolic rate and most importantly help you achieve weight loss.”
