Gemma Merna keeps trim with the LBD Plan

Gemma Merna is constantly flaunting her body as character Carmel in Hollyoaks, so she thinks it's important to be looking good for camera, and she shares how she does it.

The actress has been following the LBD Plan and here she talks about what it involves and how she keeps herself from going insane by letting herself have treat meals.

Why did you decide to follow the LBD plan?

It's perfect for dropping those few extra stubborn pounds and helping you keep them off in order to maintain your curves, which is great for me and my character Carmel, since she wears nothing but tight clothes!

How have you found the plan?

It's been great, you have one shake a day which can either be strawberry or chocolate (I love chocolate!) and then you have a balanced meal for lunch and tea. I lost two pounds a week, so it's not too intensive, it's just right. The plan also celebrates having healthy curves, so it's not about being as thin as you can, it's about achieving a body you're happy with and maintaining it.

What do you typically eat on a day-to-day basis?

I have my LBD shake along with my LBD capsule for breakfast, then for lunch I'll have a salad, usually chicken but I tend to replace lettuce with kale, and then for dinner I'll have chicken or fish (sometimes I get bored of chicken!) but I make sure I have red meat at least twice a week mainly for the iron.

What about on the days you want sweet treats, which low calorie options do you opt for?

Well I tend to have a takeaway night once a week, such as Indian and I love treating myself to a chocolate bar.

What sort of exercise do you do and how often?

I workout with a personal trainer at least twice week at 6:30 am before I head to work. My favourite is Tabata training, it's great for burning fat, as it continues to burn fat afterwards, because you workout intensely for 20 seconds, then take a 10 second break, so you really build up.

For women looking to start exercising, what would you suggest they do?

It’s all about making small and positive changes i.e. taking the stairs instead of the lift, then when you start to feel a bit fitter and healthier you can join the gym then you can work up to the Tabata method when you feel ready.

Why should women try the LBD plan?

It's 100% natural, so you're not putting your body through anything that's unhealthy. You can definitely have cheat days, as long as you stick as closely to the plan as possible you'll do great, and you'll feel and look great for doing so.
