The Sidekick II is a celebrity favourite in the USA and Liberty X became the first UK celebs to embrace the device today when they had their photos taken with survey winners Batman & Robin.
UK's second favourite Sidekick: runner-up in the poll was the far less heroic Baldrick from TV's classic Blackadder series. The gormless dogsbody, played by Tony Robinson, featured in all four series of the legendary British sitcom.
UK's third favourite Sidekick: poor old Rodders made it in the poll at number three. The younger brother of cockney wide-boy Del Boy Trotter has been the butt of ‘plonker' jokes since the Only Fools and Horses TV series began in 1981.
Almost 2,000 people took part in the poll, conducted by T-Mobile to launch its latest exclusive lifestyle accessory, the Sidekick II. With a unique design, the Sidekick II is the ultimate communication gadget, making it easy to stay in touch and one step ahead.
"While many sidekicks might not get the credit they deserve, we think that no great partnerships can manage without a trusty Sidekick," T-Mobile UK's Marketing Director, Phil Chapman, says.
"The T-Mobile Sidekick II took the US by storm with celebrities such as Demi Moore, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake and Tony Hawk all adopting it as their inseparable companion.
"The Sidekick II is the ultimate communicator. This Sidekick II is key to our web'n'walk offering, with access to the full internet and instant messaging made easy wherever you are. It is one of the most eagerly anticipated gadgets to arrive in the UK in 2005 and we think it soon be one of the nation's favourite sidekicks."
The Sidekick II features T-Mobile's web'n'walkTM service enabling you to surf the internet in the same way as you would on your PC, but wherever you are whenever you need it.
The device also boasts a large colour screen, which is ideal for playing games or viewing photos. This swivels open to become a mini laptop or used closed as a gaming device, phone or camera, depending on how you wish to use it. The device has a full QWERTY keypad that makes typing faster and more accurate - perfect for staying in touch via text as well as by voice.
Available from today, the Sidekick II will be available through T-Mobile retail stores and on-line at www.t-mobile.co.uk, from £30 per month. The cost of the device is dependent on the price plan selected and the most a customer would pay is £49.99.
