Once the biggest sea port in the UK, exporting to Europe, Ireland and the Americas, Liverpool was nominated for the capital of culture award last year and with good reason. Liverpool is packed with magnificent buildings and splendid architecture; its waterfront is instantly recognisable and attracts millions of visitors each year. The City is alive with arts and culture. Spiritual home of many of today’s most famous bands, its packed with inspiration and outlet for any creative type.

Liverpool has a vibrant and welcoming city centre, not only is it packed with some of the world’s finest high street stores such as Next, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and H&M, the setting in which you can spend your money couldn’t be more spectacular. Liverpool City centre incorporates some of the finest architecture the north west has to offer. For the cheap and cheerful approach to shopping, how about the famous Sunday market at Stanley Dock? A Huge dockside building packed with vibrant traders of everything from furniture to underwear, to car parts, and Gifts, its really does have something for everyone.

For the culture vultures, there are literally hundreds of art galleries scattered around the city. For those who appreciate traditional art in a traditional setting, there’s the famous Tate gallery and the Walker art gallery. For the more contemporary art lovers, there’s Bold Street a real Jewel in the crown of Liverpool’s art scene. Along here, you’ll find FACT; a cinema for Video arts and New Media, The Bluecoat Gallery; showcasing young artists with fresh ideas, and many other individual little places along the way.

Liverpool’s Nightlife has so much to offer, too. The music scene has remained as vibrant as it was when the Beatles were in full swing, with Hundreds of live music venues to chose from around the city centre, its possible to check out a different one of Liverpool’s up and coming bands every night of the week. How about checking out the world famous Cavern club, where the Fab 4 first strutted their thing?

Live bands not your thing? Then head for Cream; The worlds most famous superclub. Featuring some of the worlds best DJ’s and playing, it’s the club, which shows other clubs how to pull off the big events. The Club hosts the Creamfields event every year in Liverpool, an attraction well worth coming to Liverpool for.

Speaking of Attractions, Liverpool is Britain’s favourite destination for days out, according to the Northwest tourist board. Visitors flock to the rejuvenated Albert Dock complex, with its plethora of Bars, Restaurants, Shops and Museums, it’s really no wonder it’s the UK’s top tourist attraction. Thanks to the European Capital of Culture title won by Liverpool, The city is seeing a resurgence of interest from investors and Homeowners alike. There are 4000 new homes ready to be offered for sale in 2004. From Brand new builds to re-developments on the dockside. Mostly in the region of £140’000, not for the average first time buyer, but there are many up and coming areas outside of the city centre. Businesses too are moving here, inquiries from businesses wishing to move to the city are up 30% and with car manufacturers land Rover and the Bank of America’s Credit card department said to be moving operations to Liverpool, business is booming
