Released on 14th May 2007 on Island Records(Available April 30th on download)Rather than strop about working in a dead end job and being the odd one out among her many cousins – Remi Nicole decided to be constructive with her annoyance. And isn’t she glad she did.Fed Up - Remi Nicole’s debut release - was penned after she was labeled ‘strange’ by said cousins for liking music other than R&B and hip hop. That coupled with a hard day’s work at Infection Control Solutions was the tipping point for this confident newcomer. Fed Up’s angsty lyrics are a stark contrast with Remi’s North London tinged vocals and gentle guitar strumming. Not one to mope around, the B-side - Go With The Flow - is an upbeat antidote to Fed Up. “I put my glasses on and I looked into the future to see what it holds.” Sings Remi, “I got myself a producer so my stories could be told. I hopped on the boat, where it’s going we don’t know. Just got to go with the flow.”

23 year old Remi might have a more mixed heritage than most (she’s part Austrian, Trinidadian and part English), but she’s a North London girl through and through. Aside from a six month stint in Trinidad when she was younger, she’s lived on the sunny side of the Thames all her life, flitting between Holloway, Islington Highgate, Tufnell Park and presently residing in Highbury.

Bought up on a heady mixture of Rod Stewart, Tracey Chapman and more reggae and soul than you can shake a very large stick at by her mother, Remi’s first dalliance with performance happened at the age of three when she ran terrified from the stage of Butlins after being put in her best frock and told to sing a nursery rhyme in front of hundreds of holidaymakers.

Luckily Remi’s got a hell of a lot better in the art of stagecraft since that fateful day. She’s only been gigging since October last year after more or less stumbling across her new found career in music but with a record deal in the bag and a bundle of live dates lined up - her very own brand of inimitable indie-pop looks set dominate an airwave near you soon.
