Ensure you have beautiful skin all-year round with these beauty tips

Nichola Joss, celebrity beauty therapist and hair removal expert for Venus, shares her tips on how to keep skin looking great post-summer holiday and all year round.

“After returning from holiday, skin often needs a little bit of extra TLC. The harsh effects of sun exposure may leave skin sensitive and dry, so make sure you counteract this with a thorough skin care routine:

Exfoliate

It’s important to exfoliate the skin, especially after a holiday. If your skin is sensitive, I suggest using a gentle exfoliant with small spherical granules for minimum irritation. If you find you’re still experiencing some peeling, gently use a body brush on the affected area whilst the skin is dry. Then, wet the skin and gently massage any remaining troubled areas.

Moisturise

It’s essential to keep the skin moisturised. The effects of the sun, sand and sea combination can really dry out the skin. I suggest using a light lotion or body oil for maximum moisture. If you have sunburn, it’s best to use an after sun as a moisturiser alternative. I recommend using one that contains aloe vera or calamine as these both have soothing properties.

Hair Removal Upkeep

Hair removal is a key part of any beauty regime and leaves us feeling confident and proud of our silky smooth pins. The Venus Embrace razor is great as it has 5 blades positioned closely together for a closer shave, while the protective ribbon of moisture helps sooth the skin and leaves legs feeling irresistibly smooth. If your skin is a little sensitive after the increased sun exposure, I would recommend using the Venus ProSkin Sensitive blades, which are designed to achieve a close shave with less feel of irritation. Simply switch the heads of the razor to get the result you want! That’s the beauty of Venus products: every Venus blade fits any Venus handle, so you can choose the right blade for you & you’ll always get great skin.

Tanning Upkeep

If you feel like you didn’t get the perfect tan whilst away, you can always apply a light cover of fake tan for added confidence. Always apply with a mitt to give an even coat and to avoid getting orange hands. If you find you’re patchy or are fading unevenly then use some natural oil, such as lavender or almond and exfoliate the skin to achieve that even tan again. Lavender oil is also great as a soothing after sun remedy.”
