e.g. If you are 71cm around the back size you are a 32 back and then 78cm around the bust, the difference is 7cm - which is just under 3" so rounded up you are a 32C.

Extra fitting tips.

Cup fittings are represented by a letter and relate to the size of your breasts. Sometimes it is better to judge your cup size from the bra that you are currently wearing. You can assess whether you are wearing the correct cup size by checking for bulging, wrinkling, or that the underwiring is lying flat against your body.

Please check in the Problem and Explanation section at the start of this page. When you are trying a bra on, remember to adjust the shoulder straps to ensure that they are not too loose. When you have got the bra on you may need to actually adjust your breasts to make sure that they are in the cups properly. It can also be helpful to try a T-shirt on over the bra so that you can see the true shape and silhouette.

Remember that busts differ in terms of the volume, shape and spacing of the breasts. You should therefore bear in mind that a tape measure alone cannot always give accurate results. One style of bra may be perfect for one woman and totally wrong another, even though they are the same size. Bras also unfortunately vary in size according to manufacturer and sometimes even by style.

Other Common Questions

Question : I am embarrassed by the large size of my breasts - and feel I cannot wear tight clothes for fear of drawing attention to them. Is there any way of flattening them out?
Answer: You could try one of the many Minimiser bras that are designed to reduce the bust silhouette by up to 3cm to give a natural, sleek shape. Whereas a normal bra lifts and projects the bust, a Minimiser contains and holds the bust deeper in the under-cup.

Question: How long should my bras last?
Answer: It generally depends on how often you wash and wear them. Bras are not designed to last a lifetime so it is important to check for signs of deterioration. These include loss of stretch in the elastics, misshapen wires, holes, etc. If any of these appear on your bra it is time to throw it away. If you want to get longer life from your bras then we recommend hand washing and drying on a line. A machine washed and tumble dried bra will typically last around 6 months, and a hand washed line dried bra around 50% longer - although of course these are only rough guides. If you find a bra no longer fits, and your size has not changed then the bra is probably worn out.

Question :How often do I need re-measuring?
Answer: We recommend that all women should be professionally re-measured on a regular basis - probably every 6-12 months. However, all women should be re-measured during pregnancy, following childbirth and after weight loss or weight gain.

Question : What should I do if one boob is bigger than the other?
Answer: You should always fit to the bigger side. Wearing slightly padded bras can hide the difference if you are smaller busted. Avoid sheer, seamless bras if you are bigger busted as this will highlight the problem.

Most manufacturers use terms like S, M, L and XL when sizing their briefs, suspenders and thongs. These should relate to dress sizes as follows:
