Wearing the wrong sized bra is uncomfortable and could damage delicate breast tissue, or lead to backache.

Breast tissue has no muscle, only tendons, and if these tendons are stretched (for example by not wearing a proper sports bra) this cannot be corrected without surgery.

Well-fitting bras not only feel more comfortable but also help your other clothes to look better.

They are as important as well-fitting shoes. Women should be re-measured regularly but especially during pregnancy, following childbirth, weight loss or weight gain - as the breast size can change dramatically.

Typical Problems
Question . Why is my bra raised away from my chest at the front between the cups.
Answer. Your cup size is too small. The bra should sit flat against the chest.

Question
Why do the wires stick out at the front or dig in under my arms.
Answer. Your cup size is too small. The wires should lie flat against your body and fully enclose the breasts.

Question . why is there wrinkling over the cups, particularly at the top and sides, or I have sagging cups.
Answer. Your cup size is too big. The breasts should be enclosed in the cups with a smooth silhouette.

Question . The bra rides up my back why.
Answer. The bra band size is too big around your body. The strap should fit snugly around your rib cage. When a bra fits correctly, the weight of the breasts is supported by the body of the bra rather than by the shoulder straps.

Question . Why do the straps dig into my shoulders, leaving red marks.
Answer The bra back size is probably too big as the main support for the breasts should come from the strap around your body and the cup, not the straps, or it could be that the straps are simply too tight. Slightly more confusingly it is also possible that the overall bra is too small (either the cup size or the band size). If in doubt - get re-measured.

Question Why do I get red marks around the body (possibly also on the shoulders)
Answer. The overall bra is too small, either the cup is too small or the band size.

Question . My favorite bra used to fit nicely but not any more, and I'm sure my size hasn't changed.
Answer. If the bra is old (over 6 months) and you've machine washed it, chances are it's worn out. In that case, you will need a new bra, not a new size! The next thing you can do to check your fit is to take your measurements and compare the findings to your current size.

Measure Yourself Bear in mind that these instructions are generalized, and that even for experts this is not an exact science. So use your common sense when figuring out the results. You'll need a tape measure and you may want the help of a mirror or better still a friend! We are not anti-metrication, but it just so happens that bras are still sold with back sizes that relate exactly to inches - so you might find it quicker to measure in inches, but here is a chart for centimetres if you prefer.
