Who knew that Y fronts were in their 70th year this year? in 1934, the Y front heralded a major leap forwars in mens undergarment technologies. The easy to use diagonal vent was applied to mens Undies for the first time this year!
Of course, 'Duds' have been aroung much longer than that. The first pull on undies were thought the have been invented in the 13th century and gradually became an important item of menswear. It wasn't recorded what they were made from until the Victorians arrived when they became two piece Kecks made from Cotton and Linen
By the beginning of the 20th century, people were Buying Undies, rather than making them, allthough the Duds they were buying were all in one top to toe knitted suits equipped with a button up bum. Toasty in the winter, but with the summer weather, could be deadly hot!
The first Boxer shorts appeared in the 1930s, the ease of use from an elastic waistband meant that they replaced the button up and snap fasten shorts of earlier in the decade. A comapny called "jockey" were responsible for the Y front around this time, too.
The first coulored Kecks became available during the second world war, when soldiers were issued with olive coloured camo-duds. Since then the choice of colour and fabric has steadily grown until it hit a peak with unusual colours and designs in the 70s and 80s.
Nowadays, the importance of underwear is beginning to decline as it gets smaller and smaller and a larger and larger percentage of males choose to wear ladies underwear or none at all, some would say we've never had it so good! Why not treat him to some Lingerie (Mens or ladies) here
