In a new survey carried out by Restylane, it's been revealed this month that in the UK:

. More than half of the women questioned (58%) feel under pressure to look younger, the percentage is particularly high for the 25-34, 35-44 age bracket and decreases for the 45+ participants

· The younger the participants the most important looks are to them

· Almost half of the sample thinks they look younger than they are

· The older people are the more they tend to think they look younger than they are – highest percentage 58%, 55+

· 13% of 25-34s think they look 5 years older than they are

· Men seem to be more in terms with their age than women

· Women 34-45 are the least happy with the way they look

· The majority of the sample consider thin skin as the biggest age threat- highest percentage being 50% for the 16-24 age bracket

· 70% of the women participants spend 1-15 pounds on skincare

· The majority of the sample (especially 16-24) don’t think that beauty creams visibly work

· Almost half of the female participants would undergo a non-surgical cosmetic treatment, proven to be safe. The younger the participants the more receptive they appear to be – highest percentage 51%, 16-24s.

· Only 31% of women would have surgical cosmetic surgery - again younger ages appear to me more positive towards surgical cosmetic surgery

· People from N. Ireland are the least in favor of cosmetic surgery

· 41% of the sample wouldn’t mind people knowing they had a cosmetic treatment –55+ appear to be the most comfortable with this -44% are completely comfortable with people knowing they had a cosmetic treatment

· 90% of the women consider a natural soft look as the ideal result of a cosmetic treatment – younger ages value a natural soft look higher while older age brackets value tight looking skin higher than the sample average

· Almost 80% of the sample is happy with the way they look - half of them though wouldn’t mind a few “tweaks” to enhance their appearance – 55+appear to be the most confident,

52% are happy with the way they look which is 10% higher than the sample average
