Beauty Buzz: Matte Lips

As summer continues to approach at an alarming rate, we're all starting to look a little closer at our beauty regime, and more specifically the make-up trends that will be big in the upcoming months.

We've looked at everything from glossy eyes to nude skin, but now it's time to focus on your pout for summer, as one of the biggest looks this year is set to be matte lips.

The catwalks have been awash with designers stripping their models back to basics, and championing both minimal hair and make-up on the runway, which means that's exactly what we'll be expected to do too!

Yes, we're sorry to break it to you, but the mantra of 'less being more' really will be the case this summer, and in particular nude matte lips will be look that everyone will be sporting.

Jennifer Lopez got in on the act way before anyone else, by sampling this trend back in her 'Jenny From The Block' days and we're pleased to say her style is still very much in fashion.

Gucci too updated their SS09 catwalk by featuring their models with peacock eyes and nude lips, which complimented their bright jungle collection really well.

For you to create this look, the important thing to remember is to opt for nude shades that have a hint of pink in them, otherwise you'll end up looking like one of the living dead with ghostly pale lips.

Use a matte shade which compliments your skin tone and blend it onto your cheeks as well, to give a nice flushed glow without it detracting from your nude base.
