The Duchess with her new hairstyle

Kate Middleton has received more heavenly news, she's now been names as having the most iconic hair of 2012.

If the Duchess didn't have enough to smile about with her little bundle of joy on the way, she's now been given another crown with hair title of 2012, according to leading professional hair products retailer Fabriah.com

A panel of judges produced top 20 which was then handed over to the public vote. The top ten was then compiled by combining both the judge’s and public’s scores.

The Duchess of Cambridge came top with the judges as well as winning the most support from the poll of 1000 people.

Singing sensation Emeli Sandé who rocketed to fame after her performances at both the opening and closing ceremony of the Olympics came second.

Third place was taken by London Mayor Boris Johnson. Although his unruly mop-top scored relatively poorly with the judges, huge public support pushed him into the bronze medal position.

In her Diamond Jubilee year, HM the Queen came fourth with the judges complementing the timeless quality of her platinum locks.

Fifth on the list was Olympic legend and Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins for his famous side-burns.

Two of 2012’s breakthrough music artists, Lana Del Rey and Harry Styles made it into the top ten coming sixth and seventh respectively.

This year has also proved to be big for Cheryl Cole and Holly Willoughby who came in at eighth and ninth place.

Just scraping into the top ten was Pudsey the dog, who shot to fame by winning this year’s Britain’s got Talent. Although the only non-human to make the shortlist, the hairstyle of the Border Collie, Bichon Frise and Chinese Crested cross was still felt iconic of 2012.

Francesca Davies from Fabriah.com commented: “From the Jubilee to the Olympics to the announcement of a new Royal baby, 2012 has been full of highlights. What’s more, throughout the year, these pinnacles have been marked with some fantastic hair.

“2012 has been a fantastic year for so many of the celebrities on our list but in particular Katherine, Duchess of Cambridge. She has, what we call in the industry, trend setting hair. In fact I would go as far as saying that Kate is the biggest hair trend-setter since Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Rachel’

“I was surprised to see some of the big names of 2012 fail to make it into the top ten such as Jessie J and Michelle Obama seeing as they scored rather highly with the judges.”

One person who took part in the survey commented: “For me Emily Sandé’s hair stood out as the defining style of 2012. She made the Olympics opening and closing ceremony for me.”
