Steal Katy Perry's Beauty Look

5 months ago 08th Jan 11:00

Katy Perry has emerged as something of a style icon over the past year, but we can't help noticing that she's becoming a bit of a beauty icon too.

Her vintage style has become an instant hit with the fashion pack, but her girly beauty look has also started to gain praise for the 'I Kissed a Girl' singer.

The glamorous look she's been sporting of late is fresh and perky; perfect for the oncoming Spring months. Using a bright pink as her base, Katy focuses on making her lips and cheeks the main focus, while leaving her eyes looking almost un styled.

Katy's 50s pin-up look is very on trend for spring/summer 09, where we'll see lots of bright neon taking centre stage, along with sequins also making a comeback.

Translating this into the top beauty trends will mean bright pinks and blues will become very much in fashion, and glitter will also be a highly acceptable addition to your make-up bag.

To get Katy's gorgeous pink glow, you'll need to invest in some new key make-up items, but not to worry we know things are tight at the moment, so here's how to create her look on a budget...

Firstly start off with a decent base, which will even out your skin tone and give you a fresh faced glow. Tinted moisturisers are a great investment buy at the moment, as come spring and summer, foundations will be too heavy on your skin. (Nivea Visage Tinted Moisturiser, £4.88)

Next, to achieve Katy's fluttery eyelashes bag some fake ones, which cost next to nothing and now look realer than ever. Once they are in place, carefully layer some mascara over them, taking care to use a gentle zig zag motion to make them blend in with your natural eyelash line. (Eylure Individual Lashes, £4.45)

Sweep a light dusting of silver eye shadow over your top lid, finishing off by adding some glitter. Glitter and dazzle pots can be bought for under £5 and are a great investment buy to give your eyes a little twinkle. (Barry M Dazzle dust, £4.50)

To complete the eye make-up, simply sweep a thin line of liquid eyeliner on the inner rim of your eye, following through to the top lid, taking care to sweep across gently. (Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner, £2.99)

Finally, turn your attention to the 'pop art' look of the cheeks and lips by using yourself a trendy cheek and lip tint in one. Benefit's Posie Tint may be fairly pricey, but their new pink glow is proving a hit in the beauty world.

If you're not convinced try NYC blusher in pink (£2.99) for your cheeks and we're loving Studio 54's bright range of lip glosses (£3.99) for your lips too.
