Achieving 'perfect Hair' status takes a lot of effort, time and products to make sure youre hair is kept in perfect condition and style.
With everyone returning from their summer holidays, September is often referred to as Hair Month, were we give our head a little extra TLC.
Alexander Barani, natural beauty expert of JĀSÖN® natural products explains how our hair gets damaged and what to do to combat this:
“Returning from a week spent on the beach or in the pool under the sun will affect our hair. You might notice that your locks feel a bit rougher round the edges and in need of a good conditioning.
“The biggest factor affecting our hair is the sun. UVA and UVB rays damage strands by causing increased porosity. This basically means the sun opens up hair cuticles and leaves itvulnerable to spilt ends, excessive loss of moisture, weak, broken strands and rapid colour fading.
“Sand causes hair to break. Sand is abrasive and acts in the same way an exfoliant would on our skin – it scrubs and removes parts of what is rubbing against. The strands usually break near the scalp as this is where sand sits on your head and works its way down. For coloured hair, the colour will become weakened.
“Salty sea water and chemical filled pool water wreck havoc on our hair. The salt in sea water not only dries out your hair, but it blocks absorption of conditioning treatments aimed to rescue damaged hair too. With pool water the biggest effect is on coloured hair. There’s always the risk of turning blondes green, but for all hair types and colours it dries the strands and the harsh chemicals cause breakage.
To combat the adverse effects on your hair from your holiday you need to use revitalising products to nourish, condition and protect your hair. Products and treatments using a lot of vitamin E moisturise your hair whilst perking it up and adding lost shine.”
Tips to protect our hair during the summer:
1) Take natural, mild shampoos and conditioners for gentle cleansing, so more breakage does not occur
2) Wear a hat wherever possible
3) Rinse your locks with clean water after going in pools and the sea
4) Trim spilt ends before you fly away!

Thanks so much for posting! My hair looks perfect when I use salon products to style with, especially pro naturals moroccan argan oil which is a heat protector. Looking after your hair properly inbetween styling is important too!

it's very important to not brush your hair too much, and to not use so many hair products and hot flat irons or curling irons. for it to be smooth, try using some warm olive oil once in a while, for the split ends, trim it on a regular basis, and don't dye it too much. Eat lots of fish, and nuts for it to grow fast and healthy.
