Waxing is a painful job to look good

Waxing is a painful job to look good

The age old saying goes - beauty is painful - and it seems that it's something that the majority of women live by.

New research reveals that the majority of women admit that they have hurt themselves in the past through accidents relating to beauty and fashion.

The study, conducted by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, polled 2,109 women from across the country, and 53% said they've bought fashion items too small for them because they couldn't find their size, as incentive to lose weight and because the clothes look nicer in a smaller size.

72% admitted that they have hurt themselves accidentally while trying to look food, fashion and beauty-wise.

The top answers for pain were:

1. Wearing heels that were too high

2. Shaving/waxing

3. Burnt whilst tanning

4. Burnt whilst using heated hair styler

5. Beauty product reaction

6. Wearing clothing that was too tight

7. Eyelash curler accident

8. Hair dye reaction

9. Tattoo/piercing malfunction

10. Whilst whitening teeth

According to the research, the majority of respondents admitted to having had a fashion or beauty related accident at least 1-2 times this year already, whilst 33% had suffered 3-5 incidents and 4% had more than 5 incidents related to poor fashion or beauty choices.

But this hasn't resulted in more women becoming cautious, and it's all down to the fact that they said a 'bit of pain to look good was okay'.

Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, had the following to say about the findings:

“While the majority of respondents admitted they have at some point hurt themselves in the processes of trying to look good, what was a bit concerning was just how unaffected their attitude was by their accidents. While cutting yourself shaving may not be a big deal, burning and falling over can be very painful and quite serious indeed.

“The best way to look good is to feel comfortable with yourself and the clothes you are wearing. Looking great is a plus, but doing it without suffering in the name of beauty and fashion is even better.”
