David Beckham has long been cited as a handsome man

Super smooth and groomed celebrities are inspiring men to seek a more youthful, fresh-faced look to please their partners this Valentine’s Day, with the UK’s leading provider of cosmetic surgery reporting a 40% rise in enquiries for laser hair removal, Botox and dermal fillers from men.

Transform Cosmetic Surgery has experienced a flood of enquiries from men looking to lose their lines ahead of the most romantic day of the year, whilst male queries about reducing unwanted body hair have leapt by 35% in the same period.

Year-on-year, Transform witnessed a spike in enquiries for non–surgical treatments during January. Previously the majority of these enquiries have been from women, but this year overall enquiries from men about non-surgical treatments were up by a third on 2013.

And 75% of those seeking the treatments admit the reason they’re after a younger, line-free look is to put the romance back into their relationship.

The sleek, well-groomed style sported by celebrities such as Peter Andre and David Beckham appears to be the inspiration behind the trend, with men seeking to strip away the years (and their hairy chests and backs) to achieve a cleaner, kissable, streamlined appearance.

The average age of those enquiring about the procedures is 39, showing men who embraced the hard-partying lad culture of the 1990s are looking to lose the tell-tale signs of late nights and high living to achieve a more youthful, clean-cut profile to appeal to their partners.

With celebrities such as Peter Andre admitting to Botox and sporting heroes like David Beckham and the British Lions rugby team adopting smooth, hair free chests, men are realising ageing doesn’t have to mean looking old and are putting more effort into their appearance.

Transform’s Shami Thomas comments: “Wanting to look good and remain fresh faced for your partner is something we tend to associate with women, but we’re seeing an increasing number of men seeking treatments to maintain their looks and put the oomph back in their love life as Valentine’s Day approaches.

“Men around 39 years old grew up with the likes of David Beckham and Peter Andre. The fact those guys look so good and are still attractive to women means men are following their lead – whether it’s opting for a hair free chest or smoothing lines with Botox and fillers.

“We tend to see an increase in queries from both men and women in the run up to Valentine’s Day, but this rise in male enquirers shows guys are just as keen as girls to freshen their appearance. “
