The first time I tried this treatment I was quite surprised by its effects on my skin.

I went to the institute because I could feel my skin was dull and had a poorly defined complexion. I wanted to have a treatment that could help my skin get rid of all the dead cells which can not be removed with a simple scrub action. The beautician offered me a diamond dermabrasion treatment.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is one of the more recent skin-care techniques to have crossed over from Hollywood to the mainstream. It is a good alternative to invasive procedures or surgery, you can get amazing results within few sessions.

Microdermabrasion is a general term for the application of tiny rough grains to buff away the surface layer of skin. Many different products and treatments use this method, including medical procedures, salon treatments and creams and scrubs that you apply yourself at home. It’s usually done to the face, chest, neck, arms or hands. Before we can understand how microdermabrasion does what it does, it’s important to understand how skin works.

Your skin is made up of different layers. The epidermis is the layer the closest to the outside world. It’s a set of dead skin cells on top of another layer of cells that are in the process of maturing. The topmost layer is called the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum mostly acts as a barrier between the outside world and the lower skin layers. It keeps all but the smallest molecules from getting through.

During Microdermabrasion procedure, we will target only the top layer without affecting the deeper layer.

What does a microdermabrasion machine to your skin

It provides a Non-Surgical skin resurfacing procedure by using sterile diamond heads to peel. And rub off the dead cells at the top skin layer followed by vacuuming/suction removing particles along with any dirt and dead skin.

This treatment will gently exfoliate the skin and removes the dull through a vacuum massage. This procedure makes your skin smoother and the circulation in your face is boosted to give you a healthy glow.

Take microdermabrasion to your home

To get the advantage of this procedure at home I bought a home use microdermabrasion machine. After a long hesitation, I chose Beurer FC100 Pureo Derma Peel Microdermabrasion.

Why did I choose this one?

First of all, it imitates the same actions that a professional machine would do, secondly, it is very easy to use and I feel comfortable using it. Finally, the price is very affordable compared to professional machines.

What kind of problems microdermabrasion can help with?

Active rosacea

Fragile capillaries

Vascular lesions

Widespread acne

Herpetic lesions (herpes)

Warts

Open sores

Skin lesions

Anyone who takes anti-coagulants

Eczema

Dermatitis

Psoriasis

Lupus

Erythematosus

Diabetes mellitus

What kind of results can you expect?

I have been using it for 6 months now, I do a session every 3 or 4 weeks. Right after the procedure my skin is quite red and sensitive but as early as the following day I can see the difference: my complexion is more even, my skin feels smooth and glowy. I have noticed an improvement in my acne scars.

This process has many beneficial effects. With peeling off dead cells, the skin’s surface is improved. The healing process brings with it newer skin cells that look and feel smoother. I also noticed that my skin is more reactive to the creams and lotions because more of their active ingredients and moisture can find their way down to the lower layers of my skin. As microdermabrasion temporarily removes some moisture from the skin, it is very important to use extra moisturizing creams.

What to avoid during the treatment?

♠ The first thing to do is to taut the skin while you are using the machine, pulled your skin between your index and your middle finger and go over the pulled skin with the machine. The vacuum action tends to cause blemishes if the skin tension is let up or uneven

♠ Be careful not to get any tan or any chemicals peels before and after the treatment

♠ Do not wax the treated area

♠ Do not use Retinol A or any chemicals

♠ Avoid make up for 24 hours

To summarize, your skin is much more sensitive as it temporarly loses its the first protective barrier so you have to keep it as protected and clean as much as possible.
