These beauty tips will forever be used

Timeless beauty is THE beauty look that women of all ages aspire to, fuelling a UK beauty industry now worth a staggering £15billion. However it appears that ‘money can’t buy’ qualities such as confidence and happiness are the most-wanted attributes when it comes to possessing timeless beauty, according to a new study released by Pears Soap.

To celebrate the 225th anniversary of the iconic Pears soap, here are Style and beauty presenter and expert Naomi Isted’s beauty tips that have stood the test of time.

1/ Try some age old beauty superfoods. Your diet has an impact on everything – try to go back to basics like they did centuries ago, before processed foods and follow a healthier diet full of fruit, vegetables and fish. If you eat a healthy balanced diet you will feel better from inside out. Here are some of my favourite beauty superfoods:

  • Porridge is a great way to start your day, as oats are high in all the right things to help improve your skin
  • Bell peppers are full of vitamin C, which aids collagen production for healthy skin and hair
  • With vitamin C, beta-carotene and vitamin E present in Spinach this is a wrinkle fighting formula full of antioxidants to help protect your skin from the sun's aging UV rays.

2/ Stress is bad for our health and happiness, it can affect our skin our sleep and has a knock-on effect of tiredness and ailments. With technology becoming so addictive, we seem to spend less time just relaxing and having a laugh with our friends and family, which is important in order to combat stress and look happier from within. Make time for you, whether it’s a family outing or an at-home spa, make a conscious effort to switch off relax and laugh.

3/ It’s a simple tip but regularly overlooked; When you’re washing your face, whatever skincare routine suits your skin type it’s always good to remember to wash your face with warm water to open the pores followed by rinsing with cold water as this then closes the pores.

4/ Try to replace the car for a walk. Leading an active lifestyle will have an impact on your overall wellbeing and state of mind. Before public transport everyone would have to walk therefore being active was part of their day. Walking is so good for you as a way of staying active. If you can try and exercise 30min x 3 weekly and encourage your children to walk or cycle whenever they can.

5/ Through the ages there’s been different tanning trends which come and go but a key to looking after your skin is to use a daily facial SPF to protect your skin from harmful rays and sun damage.

6/ Drink lots of water around 1.2-2 litres daily is ideal, replace soft drinks or fizzy drinks for water. It’s simple and it’s always been around water is the best way to rehydrate your skin and energise your muscles. Add lemon and you will be on track to a healthier you. Lemon water boosts your immune system, it helps with wrinkles and generally hydrates and energises you naturally.

Beauty Through The Ages:

Here are 5 weird and wacky beauty tricks that have been used through the ages.

1/ Apply curdled milk to your skin… it was thought to cure acne

2/ Cucumber doesn’t just have to be used for tired eyes, its juice seemingly has the power to remove your freckles

3/ Apparently boiling nettles removes the sting and once applied to your face, it produces a smooth, even complexion

4/ Apply egg whites to the face and neck to tighten the skin. It not only provides an instant temporary face lift

5/ If you ever manage to track it down, crocodile dung is apparently perfect for facials and body treatments.
