A bride wants to be glowing on her big day

With the wedding season upon us Caroline Frazer, Simple Skincare Expert and Celebrity Make-Up Artist, shares her insider beauty secrets for blushing brides planning their big day.

“The most important tip I can give brides-to-be is that your make-up should simply enhance what you already have. Your wedding day is not the time to attempt something excessively bold or on-trend as you may come to regret it later.”

Caroline’s step-by-step bridal master class:

1.     Start by creating the perfect base by channelling one of the key SS12 beauty trends; youthful, glowing and illuminated skin. The Simple Radiance Brightening Moisturiser SPF10 (RRP £6.99) is my top tip for cheating your way to a brighter complexion. Formulated with Mango goodness and light-reflecting particles, it helps to visibly brighten the skin. Apply all over then dab a little extra onto cheek bones, Cupid’s bow and the bridge of the nose to subtly highlight. The particles reflect light off the face to help flatter the skin and give a soft focus effect – ideal for creating that picture-perfect look of naturally health glowing skin. Apply your usual foundation followed by a pastel coloured creamy blusher swirled onto the apples of your cheeks completed with a dusting of peachy powder to enhance your natural glow.

2.     Sweep a delicate brown or smoky shadow onto the eyes for colour that’s striking, but not too bold. Next apply a pretty feline flick of chocolate or black eyeliner. Make sure you have the Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Corrector Pen (RRP £4.99) to hand to quickly tidy up any mistakes. Wedding day nerves and shaking hands shouldn’t get in the way of perfect eyeliner! Using the tip of the Corrector Pen you can easily tidy any make-up mishaps, even waterproof mascara, while leaving the rest of your make-up untouched. Finally apply lashings of waterproof mascara – even the steadiest bride is bound to shed a tear or two and no-one wants unsightly panda eyes.

3.     When it comes to lips I urge you keep it subtle. A statement lip might look fabulous now, but you may change your mind when looking back at your wedding snaps in years to come. First apply a lip liner that is one shade darker than your lipstick to create subtle definition and a strong foundation for colour. Next apply your lip colour, my top tip for achieving a full plump pout is to go for a pale nude or pink toned lip gloss or lipstick with a subtle shimmer finish as this reflects light and gives the illusion of fuller lips. Finally, if you’ve used a lipstick rather than a gloss, apply a slick of lip balm to help set your colour and keep lips moist. I love the Simple Kind To Lips Intensive Lip Moisturiser (RRP £3.05), enriched with Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E and Glycerin, it also has a touch of gloss for a natural look.

4.     A quick spirtz of face mist finishes the look and adds a dewy sheen to skin, try the Simple Kind To skin Moisture Boost Hydro Mist (RRP £5.99). The fine mist is formulated with Lotus Flowerand absorbs quickly giving tired, dry and dull skin an instant boost of hydration – helping it glow all day. The added goodness of Glycerin, Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E helps to moisturise, restore, soften and smooth skin. Now you’re picture perfect and ready to enjoy the best day of your life.
