Aerosmith are to play their first dates in America since frontman Steven Tyler fell from a stage in South Dakota last summer and then temporarily quit the group.

The band's 2009 summer tour with ZZ Top was derailed by Tyler's accident, which left him with a shattered collarbone, but now the rockers are planning a return to the U.S. after a series of successful shows in South America.

The band's Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock Tour will kick off in Oakland, California on 23 July. Guitarist Joe Perry says, "This is a perfect time for us to tour North America as we are just completing a very successful tour of South America." Tyler adds, "We're gonna rock you into the middle of next week!"

An initial 18 summer dates are planned, including a homecoming show at Boston's Fenway Park with J. Geils Band. Sammy Hagar and the Wabos will support Aerosmith for the majority of the trek. Before the North American shows, the group heads to Europe for 10 dates.
