Central Saint Martins launched its new campus with a star-studded party last night (17.11.11).

How wonderfully lucky today's students are to have this fantastic new building that has been designed by intelligent architects as a creative space

The iconic College of Arts and Design - part of University of the Arts London - officially opened its doors to its new King's Cross home and the event was hosted by designer Grayson Perry. Other guests included Mike Leigh, Alexi Sayle, Sebastian Conran, Antony Gormley, Gareth Pugh, Stephen Jones and Steven Moffat.

The £200m campus brings together more than 4,000 students and 1,000 staff, creating a 21st century art school fit for the future. Based in the Grade II listed Granary Building, the state of the art campus is at the heart of the 67 acre redevelopment of King's Cross.

Sir Terence Conran, designer, BA (Hons) Textiles, Central School of Art (now part of Central Saint Martins) said: "How wonderfully lucky today's students are to have this fantastic new building that has been designed by intelligent architects as a creative space. I remember being terribly underwhelmed by Southampton Row during my time at Central, which was dark, damp and didn't raise the spirits. But just going into the new environment makes you excited."
