Cheryl Cole loves her 'dress down' weekend clothes

Cheryl Cole "cringes" when she sees pictures of herself in unfashionable clothes.

The Girls Aloud star - who shot to fame after winning a place in the band on 2002 UK TV talent show 'Popstars: The Rivals' - hasn't always got her style choices right, and finds it mortifying when she comes across a shot of herself in an unflattering outfit.

She explained: "When I was 15 I wanted to go peroxide blonde and I spent eight hours in the hairdresser's chair having really strong peroxide used on my hair. Seriously, eight hours, and I ended up looking like something out of 'The Wizard of Oz', it was awful.

"You have to work out what suits you. The only difference is that everyone gets to see my fashion and beauty mistakes and they are caught on camera forever. I cringe because I'm constantly reminded of them."

Cheryl admits her hair is styled using extensions to help give it more body, but insists the rest of her beauty routine is like anyone else's.

She told Britain's Hello! magazine: "I hope I'm low maintenance. I feel best without make-up in comfy clothes at the weekend, probably because I have to dress up so much for my work. I am one of those people who don't care what's going on with my face - make-up, no make-up - but I'm high maintenance when it comes to my hair."
