Emma Watson has created an ethical clothing range.

The 'Harry Potter' actress has teamed up with People Tree for the new collection, which is aimed at people aged 16 to 24.

She said: "I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with.

"I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren't many options out there."

If someone asked me to do something that was beneficial to a cause, then maybe I'd consider it, but not just to be able to say 'Look at me! I've got my own line!'

Emma - who is the face of Burberry - has taken on the role of creative adviser for the new line, which comprises cotton skirts, T-shirts, jersey garments and jewellery.

She tried to inject some of her own personal style into the pieces, and used her favourite locations, including South France, London and music festivals, as inspiration.

There are 26 women's pieces and 15 men's looks in the range, which is largely made from organic and fairly traded cotton.

The collection is handmade by fair trade groups, and helps people make money in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.

The collection will hit stores in February 2010.

Earlier this year, the 19-year-old actress said she would only bring out a fashion line if she could guarantee it would help people.

She said: "If someone asked me to do something that was beneficial to a cause, then maybe I'd consider it, but not just to be able to say 'Look at me! I've got my own line!' "
