After a break last week for the Soap Awards, Gossip Girl is back this week with some lighthearted fun, following three weeks of angst and heartache on the Upper East Side.
You've Got Yale opened with an altogether perkier Blair, who had decided that Chuck was nothing but bad news and was in fact dead to her. Wow, harsh B, but hey, I'll admit he deserves to suffer.
She was clearly feeling back to her preppy best this episode, especially if her outfit choice was anything to go by, as she rocked a blue, white and pink checked blazer, navy skirt, white tights and frilly blouse to perfection.
I'll admit I wasn't mad keen on her scary frilly cuffs, but I'll overlook it considering how cute her Dad, Roman and Dorota all looked in their Yale jumpers when B came bouncing down the stairs to greet them.
Now, in case you're a bit lost at this point, today is the day all the seniors find out if they have been accepted to their college of choice, and of course this is why B is so neurotic and slightly unhinged as she waits for the golden text to come though.
Over to Serena and she's feeling a bit gloomy, probably having looked in the mirror and realised she's become dull thanks to all the time she's spent with the Humphrey.
Seriously, her hair was lank, flat and un-styled, she looked pale and unwashed and that boring grey coat with black scarf?! So un-Serena! She always likes to make a statement, and in this scene, well Dan and his sorry brown coat actually stole the show.
You know there's trouble in paradise when they start dressing alike, oh and of course their parents are screwing around in the same room as them too- awkward doesn't even begin to cover it.
So while Lily has shacked up with Rufus, where oh where is our beloved and deranged Chuck? Well, he's in his Palace suite, plotting against Jack with some very juvenile, yet highly hilarious schemes.
Thank god he's back to the suave and sophisticated Chuck we all know, rocking a fabulously OTT pink jumper, lilac shirt, plaid jacket and brown pants, the sex god was back, but unfortunately so was Jack and he appeared to be one step ahead of the younger Bass.
I got the impression at this point that Jack's character had shifted somewhat in this episode and he's become the more obvious villain, but wearing a boring navy blue suit to take Chuck down? are we sure he's a Bass?!
While Jack runs rings around Chuck, we're introduced to a new character and I hate her already. Miss Carr looks and acts like a student, yet is in fact a Shakespeare teacher with a poet's soul- can anyone see where this is going?!
Sampling a cute purple bag, she's got some ounce of style, but other than that she's all shiny hair and big eyes. Serena seems to like her though, and Dan seems impressed, but what will Blair make of her?
Well, at the minute she doesn't give a toss, as she's snapping at her minions to 'refresh, refresh' their emails to see if her acceptance has come through yet.
Whether she means to be or not, her neurotic behaviour in this scene is hilarious, and just goes to show you how B's character has developed from Queen Bitch, to slightly nicer, Queen Bitch over the past year.
Loving her dogtooth coat and red bag too in this scene, and it's a shame that Serena fails to match her in the style stakes once more, even though she too has opted for plaid on this momentous occasion.
The dull navy blue and yellow checked number has patchwork elbows for heaven's sake, which is just a ridiculous costume choice for someone as picky and fashionable as Serena, but it seems her style has impressed someone as she's been accepted to Yale, and B's been wait listed. Oh-dear.
Serena lies about her acceptance and scuttles off to try and fix things, while Dan frantically searches for his lady love to tell her his amazing news. Yes, Humphrey got into Yale as well and all he wants to do is run away for four years with her, to get away from their smooching parents, which to be honest I can't really blame him for.
