Hayden Panettiere's dog chewed a $1,000 pair of shoes.

The 'Heroes' star's labrador mix Penny Lane ruined the Christian Louboutin flats, although Hayden didn't initially realise the pooch was to blame.

A source said: "Hayden saw that one of the heels was all mangled. She wondered why she hadn't noticed when she did it."

What are you doing? How would you like someone to blow that thing inside your house?

Hayden soon worked out Penny Lane was the culprit and has now enrolled her in obedience classes.

The source added to National Enquirer magazine: "She'd caught Penny chewing a belt before."

Hayden's love of animals is well known.

The 20-year-old actress has previously campaigned to stop whale-hunting in Japan, and stopped filming on 'Heroes' when she thought a crew member was being mean to birds.

Furious the worker was using a lawn-blower to blast birds from a tree, she screamed: "What are you doing? How would you like someone to blow that thing inside your house?"
